Louisiana Museum of Art
Louisiana Museum of Art (NOMA), Louisiana’ oldest fine arts institution, opened on December 16, 1911 with only 9 works of art. Today, the museum hosts an impressive permanent collection of almost 40,000 objects. The collection, noted for its extraordinary strengths in French and American art, photography, glass, and African and Japanese works, continues to expand and grow, making NOMA one of the top art museums in the south. Louisiana Museum of Art is committed to preserving, interpreting, and enriching its collections and renowned sculpture garden; offering innovative experiences for learning and interpretation; and uniting, inspiring, and engaging diverse communities and cultures. NOMA will be a nexus for the arts in Louisiana, an iconic presence synonymous with the city, and recognized nationally as the foremost cultural institution in the Gulf South.
